Vormator is the ultimate challenge of your creativity: the aim of the book is to give each artist the chance to show his abilities to create a stunning piece with limited means.

The contributing artists each get the exact same set of 8 shapes, the Elements. With these shapes they are challenged to create their own unique page for the book, within the limitations provided in the Rulebook. Designers are thus challenged to create a unique piece within a strict set of rules. It all comes down to pure skills and creativity in this competition.

Besides it being an ultimate test of skills, we also think the Vormator project is something new and fresh. Imagine what can spawn from these simple rules.

Many people will be interested to see what different designers will do with the Elements under the imposed restrictions. Imagine what happens when well-established designers contribute their graphics: will their pieces still be strong and recognizable, being stripped down to their essence?

Who will find the most creative solution? Do you think you’re up for the challenge?

What exactly are you allowed to do and isn’t allowed with the Elements?

The following rules have to be followed when creating your artwork:

1. you’re allowed to rotate, flip and duplicate the Elements

2. you are not obliged to use all the Elements

3. scaling is allowed, but only proportionally, so no skewing or free transform

4. you can add, subtract, intersect and group elements as you see fit

5. the use of colour is unrestricted, you can create your own colour schemes

6. you are allowed to use gradients

7. the Elements may only be filled, the use of strokes is not allowed

8. you are not allowed to use filters or effects (e.g. drop shadows).
